HIS Sign flew higher than ever before in 2019! This picture from our “Guys Day Out” at iFly (see more photos of the HIS Sign Team in the article “It’s a Wrap) reflects that perspective. Time has also flown by and here we are at the jumping point of 2020!

Listed below are some of the HIS Sign Highlights of 2019:

  • In June we published our first Terp Talk Newsletter.
  • We migrated our phone system from Line2® to RingCentral®.
  • The HIS Sign Scheduling team took on Off-Hours Support to improve the handling of your off-hour needs.
  • We rolled out a new Responsive Website to make it easier for you to access our interpreter resources on ALL of your devices.
  • We supported your growth as interpreters through:
    • Our new “Guaranteed Hours” program. For more information, contact the Scheduling Department at TerpAdmin@HISsign.com or by phone 877-886-8879 x2.
    • Interpreter Licensure in Maryland with the goal to increase the overall quality of interpreters.
    • A new Interpreter Screening Process to improve our ability to measure the quality of our interpreter applicants and to improve their placement.
    • The creation of a new Job Availability Web Page to show you open jobs and the certification or screening level required to increase the jobs you will see.
    • Offering job opportunities around the country.
    • Creating the “Event Contract” for interpreters outside of our agency who have special skills (eg., Platform, Legal, or Government interpreting) and only want to work for HIS Sign periodically. This contract allows an interpreter to perform a one-time assignment for HIS Sign.     • The creation of “Specialty Pools”. Each pool (Educational, Medical and Government categories) has its own unique requirements to join, such as a certain skill level, background check or clearance.     • Educational Interpreter Workshops.
    • Increased blogging of CEU and other educational and involvement opportunities.
  • We held an Interpreter “It’s 5:00 Somewhere!” Meet & Greet Happy Hour.

Overall, 2019 was an exciting year of growth as we added 56 new interpreters and pushed our weekly hour average up to almost 1,000 hours/week, all while working to provide you with opportunities to work and to exceed your expectations.
